Richard Thoday, a Secondary School teacher from Matlock in Derbyshire will set out on July 20th in a bid to break a quintessentially British record. He hopes to ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats on a Penny Farthing designed in the 1800’s. All in the name of charity raising funds for Children in Need.
Backed by a team of passionate sponsors, a loving family and enthusiastic friends Richard will leave Land’s End on the 20th July, aiming to arrive at John o’Groats 5 days later. The current record stands at 5 days, 1 hour and 45 minutes completed in 1886 by G.P.Mills.
Richard is an experienced long distance cyclist, having ridden numerous 24hr road cycling events. Richard will be setting off on the morning of Saturday 20th July at 6am from Land’s End. Follow and share his progress on his , social media , and donate generously.

I’m grateful for the support of the Stanley Fearn Cycles team … who have been helping me with bits and bobs (which apparently quickly add up!) of kit that I seem to be wearing out or breaking … the penny vibrations chew through bottle cages like you wouldn’t believe!!
